Project Engineer

Job Description

The Project Engineer plays a critical technical role in delivering high-quality residential and site development projects. The Project Engineer proactively identifies design conflicts, integrates constructability into decision-making, and coordinates directly with clients, municipalities, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless execution.

Job Functions

  • Develop residential and/or site designs (grading, drainage, utilities, paving) with minimal oversight. 
  • Produce complete plan sets and technical exhibits with minimal oversight. 
  • Prepare drainage studies, utility analyses, hydraulic designs, and other supporting calculations. 
  • Identify design conflicts and propose practical solutions proactively. 
  • Incorporate constructability considerations into design decisions. 
  • Coordinate on technical topics with clients, city staff, consultants, and contractors. 
  • Review work completed by Design Engineers or Design staff and provide feedback. 
  • Ensure timely responses to city comments, internal requests, and coordination. 
  • Assist with construction administration documentation such as RFIs, clarifications and product submittals. 
  • Support APMs/PMs with submittals, documentation, and schedule coordination. 

Competencies 

  • 3-5 yrs experience
  • Strong command of the land and/or site development design workflow. 
  • Ability to manage multiple technical tasks and deadlines concurrently. 
  • Confident, clear communication with cities, clients, and consultants. 
  • Strong engineering judgment and problem-solving ability. 
  • Ability to guide junior staff and uphold drafting/design quality.
